Research Assistant, Macro Risk Index Project

Location: Remote

Deadline: Rolling Basis

Positions: 2–3

FTA Research is seeking 2–3 Research Assistants to support the Macro Risk Index (MRI) for Emerging Markets, an open-access macroeconomic vulnerability index covering 30 countries across 7 global regions. The project delivers two simultaneous outputs: a live public dashboard and a peer-reviewed academic paper targeting Emerging Markets Review and World Development.

What You'll Work On
  • ·Supporting data collection, cleaning, and validation across IMF and World Bank datasets
  • ·Assisting with ML analysis including PCA robustness checks and time series trend work
  • ·Supporting data visualization outputs for both the dashboard and the academic paper
  • ·Contributing to literature review and academic writing tasks
What We're Looking For
  • ·Proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, or Plotly preferred)
  • ·Background in economics, data science, or a quantitative field
  • ·Ability to commit to a 10-week timeline through late August 2026
  • ·Strong written communication skills
