FTA Stock Pitch Championship
A national stock pitch competition for FTA chapter members. Take a definitive position on a public company and defend it to investors who pick stocks for a living.
The FTA Stock Pitch Championship is a multi-round national stock pitch competition open to active FTA chapter members. The Stock Pitch Championship asks students to take a definitive position on a publicly traded company, a buy, hold, or sell recommendation backed by a full valuation model.
Teams produce a written equity research report, deliver a live pitch to a panel of buy-side and sell-side professionals, and defend their valuation under direct questioning. The competition is designed to mirror the rigor of an institutional research process, not a classroom exercise. Every assumption is challenged, every multiple is interrogated, and every recommendation has to survive contact with judges who do this for a living.
Three rounds. Defended conviction.
Written Report
Submit an 8-12 page equity research report. Judged on analytical rigor, valuation methodology, clarity, and originality. Top performers advance.
Live Pitch
10-minute live pitch via Zoom. 5-minute Q&A with judges. Top teams advance to finals.
Finals
Defended valuation under pressure. Judges actively challenge assumptions, multiples, and price targets. Winners announced live.
Who Can Compete
The Stock Pitch Championship is open exclusively to active FTA chapter members. Teams of 2. If your school does not yet have a chapter, you can apply for founding chapter status and qualify for entry once approved. The championship runs nationally, with regional qualifiers feeding into a final round judged by professional investors from across the industry.
Submissions are scored on thesis quality, valuation defensibility, risk identification, and presentation. Judges are practitioners who pick stocks for a living, and their scores are final. Exact dates, the eligible universe of companies, and the report template will be released to registered chapters ahead of the fall 2026 launch.
